Are all your products from the UK?

All Springfield Poultry products are produced in the UK and reared on our Herefordshire farm.




Can I have my chicken delivered frozen?

If you would prefer you can have your delivery frozen, when checking out you will see a box for special requests etc. Just add a note that you would prefer frozen & we will make sure this is done.




How does poultry compare to beef nutritionally

Cooked, a trimmed piece of lean beef has 3 times the fat of a tight-meat skinless piece of chicken. Chicken also provides a good source of niacin and protein. Turkey is the leanest of all meats with less than 1 gram of fat and 135 calories in a 3.5 ounce serving.




How much does delivery cost?

Delivery’s free if you spend over £50, £8 for orders below £50. Orders received after Wednesday Midday will be put to the following weeks delivery days of Wed/Thurs/Fri.




How soon will my meat get here?

Your order will usually take two working days to arrive, so if you order before midnight on Monday you’ll receive it on Wednesday(We only deliver Wed, Thurs & Fri). so if you place an order on a Thursday, you’ll receive your meat the following Wed/Thurs/Fri whichever day suits you just leave message in the special requests/notes box.

What are giblets?

Giblets are the heart, neck and liver of a bird.




What are the different parts of a chicken called?

What if I’m out when my order arrives?

We’ve thought of that. When you place an order you’ll see there’s a box for you to fill in telling us what to do if nobody’s in. Ask us to leave it in the shed, take it to Mrs Smith down the road or call you on your mobile, whatever’s easiest for you.




What is a drumstick?

It is the lower joint of the leg of a chicken.




What is thigh?

It is the upper part of the leg without the bottom drumsticks from the joint point.

What is whole chicken leg or quarter (¼) leg?

A whole leg is the drumstick thigh combination. The whole leg differs from the leg quarter in that it does not contain a portion of the back.




What makes white meat white?

Muscle becomes red or “dark meat” when the protein myosin absorbs a lot of oxygen. This happens when the muscles are heavily worked. The breast of a flightless chicken is not exercised, so it remains white.




Where can I add notes or delivery instructions?

When you are paying there will be an option to give delivery instructions or any special notes whether you would prefer frozen perhaps or skin on with your breast fillets,or even text you the delivery day we will endeavour to try our best.
