Local Herefordshire Honey
Gordon and Carola Keen started keeping bees and making Herefordshire Honey after they were given a beekeeping course as a wedding present in 2010. Since then they have built up a small apiary of seven hives of which they have become particularly passionate about keeping in their 2 acre Herefordshire garden. They keep the bees and the process as organic as possible and only take off any surplus honey they have – not robbing them of their stores which is vital for their winter survival.
This product arrives in its crystallised form. There’s a common misperception that crystallised honey has “gone bad”. No! It’s actually a sign of high quality. Honey will even crystallise in the hive if the temperature goes below 50ºF (10ºC), and it will crystallise in your containers if you have a cold cupboard. Finding a warmer spot to store the pots will slow crystallisation. It’s fairly simple to turn it back into a smooth liquid again by heating it. The best way to do this is to put it in a bowl of warm water and slowly letting it warm up.
Not suitable for children under the age of 12 months.
